When I count how many slip-ons, sandals, mules, and mocs I own, it’s a wonder I have room for all of them. But none do what this innovative pair of slides from Nike and Hyperice does to offer everyday athletes TLC for their feet.A follow-up to the Hyperboot ($799), the more mainstream Hyperslide ($249) helps reduce tension, promote relaxation, soothe your feet, improve flexibility, and aid in daily recovery. So, do they deliver? The answer is absolutely.ProsMobility indoors or out while your feet get treated to massage and/or heatApp allows you to control heat and massage from your phoneComfortable and plush enough to wear around even without the podsConsTurns off automatically after 15 minutes unless you make any adjustments to temperature or vibrationComes in two basic colorsHow I TestedRecovery starts the moment you step into the Nike Air Zoom Hyperslides–cushioned, softly ridged sandals. I first tried them with bare feet, but also followed the instructions on the enclosed note card which recommends wearing socks. Doing so made a difference, as I felt the heat penetrated my feet more effectively, and my feet hugged the slide, so the vibration was improved. Also worth noting, these are comfy enough to wear around anytime, even without the heat and vibration.Jamie SorcherGo low tech: The Hyperslide is comfortable enough to wear around even if you skip putting in the pods.According to the companies, you’ll get up to one hour of battery life with the maximum settings for both heat and vibration, which I found to be accurate. You can do better with runtime if you choose vibration only, extending runtime up to eight hours. You can customize the slides for whatever experience you want. There are three levels of vibration: 50 Hz, 75 Hz, and 100 Hz, and three levels of heat: 109, 113, and 117 degrees Fahrenheit. After trying out several variations, I enjoyed the level-one massage with medium heat the most. This is the setting I used wearing these around the house or out running errands. The recovery cycle lasts for 15 minutes, so you’ll have to stop, bend down, and reset the pods—basically, detachable batteries with control buttons—if you want to extend your session. You can also use the Hyperice app to continue.I also wondered if these slides were TSA-compliant as promised, so I took them along on a recent flight. Because the lithium-ion batteries that go inside the straps are portable electronic devices, they cannot be packed in your checked luggage. Since I only travel with a carry-on, that’s not a problem for me. The slides stayed in my carry-on; the batteries and charger were in my backpack. I had no issues at all and wasn’t even stopped for a bag check.Getting Set UpThe slides come with two Hyperslide Pods and a two-pronged USB-C charger, so you can conveniently charge both at the same time. Once charged, the pods magnetically connect underneath of the adjustable Velcro strap.Jamie SorcherBoth pods can be charged at the same time. The controls on the side of each pod let you customize the heat and vibration that works best for you.Control the experience of heat and vibration by either manually pressing the controls on the pod or using the Hyperice app.The top of the slide illuminates with a bright red “H” so that you can see the Pods are activated. I recommend experimenting with different combinations of heat and vibration, which will impact battery life.Jamie SorcherThe control pod lights up red when powered on.Best of all, you don’t need to be sitting down while wearing your slides. I made coffee and drove to the store to get groceries with these on my feet. I used them after a day of travel and before my daily walk/jog and yoga class. The Verdict: Should You Buy These? The Hyperslide is ideal for anyone—whether you’re an athlete, a marathon runner in training, or just a curiosity seeker who enjoys new tech and fitness gear. They come in black and Orewood Brown.Use these before a workout, after a race, around town, on your commute to work, or for travel. In fact, just to gauge reaction, I wore these Nike Air Zoom Hyperslides to a business convention, in an airport, and around the lobby of a hotel. I got lots of positive feedback on how clever a concept it is—mobility and recovery in an affordable form factor that most anyone can appreciate.Buy Now at nike.com | hyperice.com | bestbuy.comJamie, Senior Reviews Editor, joined the Hearst Enthusiast Group in 2021.
