I put three skin tints to the test – one gave me the most beautiful, real-skin finish

DESPITE being a full-coverage foundation devotee, I recently discovered a skin tint worth bending the rules for. But it doesn’t come cheap. So I put it to the test against two less expensive options . . . The coverage is fuller than I expected, akin to a normal foundation. It suits me but is something to keep in mind if you want a more imperceptible finish. Because of the fuller coverage, the shades aren’t as stretchable so it’s important to find a perfect match – as there are only 20 shades in the range. Most read in Fabulous The HydraTint has a slightly more hydrating formula than the Lisa Eldridge below. Focused on skincare, its ingredients include hyaluronic acid, peptides and cica, which will be good news for anyone with dry or sensitive skin. The brand is clear in communicating that it gives “barely there” coverage. That still isn’t quite enough for me every day, but paired with a bit of concealer, this made my skin look great. Luxury Lisa Eldridge Seamless Skin Enhancing Tint clings to the skin beautifully Credit: Supplied Lisa Eldridge Seamless Skin Enhancing Tint, Space NK, £39 for 30ml This is the product that forced me to re-evaluate my long-held belief that in order to feel comfortable wearing skin tint, you had to have a perfect complexion. It has an almost ink-like consistency, which gives you time to blend it in, but then it sets. Others I’ve tried before were problematic as they slipped all over my face and never fully blended out. Once this sets, it clings to skin, leaving the most beautiful, real-skin finish. I guarantee people will ask what skincare product you’re using. PICK OF THE WEEK I DON’T usually believe in wearing season’s scents, but there’s one fragrance I’ve not been able to put down all summer: Jo Malone London Sea Salt & Bergamot cologne.
