Ranbir Kapoor had a ring, a plan and a photographer waiting in the distance when he got down on one knee to propose to Alia Bhatt in Kenya. What he hadn't quite planned for was the presence of three lions, standing around 100 feet away. Recalling the moment on Kaun Banega Crorepati 18, the actor had a rather amusing way of describing the scene: Alia was his lioness, while he was little more than a mouse.Speaking to host Amitabh Bachchan, Ranbir revealed that he'd planned the proposal during their trip to Maasai Mara, right down to arranging for their guide and driver to capture the moment without Alia catching on."I had already tipped our guide and driver and told them to stop somewhere in the middle of the jungle. I had brought a ring with me, and I wanted to get down on one knee while they took photographs from a distance," he said.Ranbir knew Alia loved photographs and wanted to make sure they had pictures to remember the occasion. "Girls love photographs, you know, to post on Instagram, so I thought this was very important for Alia," he added. The plan sounded romantic enough. The lions, however, added an unexpected complication. When Ranbir finally got down on one knee, the three "babbar sher" were about 100 feet away. Bachchan, never one to miss an opportunity for a joke, pointed out that Ranbir should have some proof of the proposal."But, sir, the situation was such that there were three lions about 100 feet away," Ranbir explained, before offering a description that was perhaps more memorable than the proposal itself. "My lioness was standing in front of me, and I was like a mouse, down on one knee, asking her, 'Baby, will you marry me?'" he said. And given the combination of a surprise proposal and three lions nearby, it's easy to see why.Ranbir and Alia got married on April 14, 2022, in an intimate ceremony at their Mumbai home, attended by family members and close friends. Their daughter, Raha, was born on November 6 that year.On the work front, Ranbir is preparing to play Lord Rama in Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana: Part 1. The film also stars Sai Pallavi as Sita, Yash as Ravana and Sunny Deol as Hanuman.- Ends
