I smiled nervously looking at the tray (Picture: Getty Images/Westend61) ‘Here we go’, Seb* announced excitedly as he walked into our dimly lit bedroom holding a silver tray. He placed it on the bed, where I was waiting for him in lingerie, and looked at me beaming with pride. Like a sweet puppy. Surveying the contents, I smiled nervously: a plate with a hotdog and a bowl of edamame. I had no idea what was going on. ‘This is the food’, he said, before seeing the confusion on my face and clarifying. ‘The sex food.’ Ah, the sex food. We had decided to spice things up with some food-play in bed, but I was thinking of strawberries and chocolate or whipped cream; the kinds of things you see people on TV whip out during sex scenes. Not the warm hotdog – with mustard and ketchup, mind you – and bowl of around 10 edamame pods that were sitting in front of me. Stifling laughter, and feeling torn at the endearing look on Seb’s face, I smiled: ‘Great, let’s do it’. I was thinking of strawberries and chocolate. This was the first time we had decided to bring food to the bedroom – for no other reason than to try something new. It’s not that we had stopped having sex entirely, but after being together for nearly four years, we certainly had less of it, and it was less imaginative. When we first got together, we spent long sessions rolling around Seb’s bedroom giggling and wearing chains or leather. One time we tied one of each of our arms to the other side of the bed, to see if we could reach over and get the other off. It ended in a broken bedframe, but a very satisfied couple. However, as time wore on, our quirks became more pronounced and what was sexy at first – lingerie and stamina – was replaced by loud, unabashed laughter, or telling each other the latest gossip as performatively as possible in the bedroom. In fact, the thing we found sexiest about each other became our shared sense of humour. Meet Sydney Summers I loved this part of our relationship. But when Seb mentioned that he didn’t feel as desired, with recent body changes, I realised I wanted to make him feel sexy again. We had just watched the episode of Seinfeld where George Costanza eats food while having sex, combining the two things he loves: meat sandwiches and women. It made us laugh at first, but it also gave me an idea. ‘Ever think of bringing food to the bedroom?’ I asked sexily. ‘Ohh yes, brilliant idea’, he replied and kissed me passionately. Looking back, I wish we had continued the conversation, because that evening, while I lay in bed waiting for Seb to bring me his aphrodisiac of choice, I started to wonder what was taking him so long. We had just watched the episode of Seinfeld where George Costanza eats food while having sex (Picture: NBCU Photo Bank/NBCUniversal via Getty Images) Surely dipping strawberries in chocolate was a five-minute job, not the 20 minutes it was taking him. I picked up my phone to text him when I heard him clumsily walking up the stairs. I hurriedly put my phone down, posed in my new lace lingerie and waited for him to walk in, only to be faced with the aforementioned hotdog. Seb climbed on the bed and handed it to me, and while I accepted the offer, I was still at a loss about what I was supposed to do with it. First, I went to take a bite and watched Seb wince. At my attempt to lick some of the ketchup as seductively as possible, however, the reaction was far more positive. Then it hit me, and I began to understand what was happening. With the hot dog still in my mouth I grunted for him to look up at me, my eyes wide in disappointment (Picture: Getty Images) Seb wanted me to imitate sex acts on the hot dog, while he nibbled seductively on the edamame. It wasn’t quite the ‘licking chocolate off of his body’ I’d imagined. But I wanted him to be happy, so began mock fellatio on the hotdog – my mouth covered in ketchup and mustard as I moaned. I looked up at Seb as he fiddled with particularly tight edamame pods and realised he wasn’t even paying any attention to my display. Sausage still in my mouth, I grunted at him, eyes wide with disappointment. The edamame slipped out of his hands and he sighed, before we both suddenly clocked what we looked like and started roaring with laughter. ‘Oh my god Sydney, you have sauce all over you,’ he howled, falling back onto the bed in a fit of giggles. It takes five minutes for us both to stop cackling and try and carry on with the night (Picture: Getty Images) I splutter mustard onto him as I laugh so much I struggle to breathe, and it takes five minutes for us both to stop cackling and try and carry on with the night. When we finally composed ourselves though, it became clear sex wouldn’t be on the cards; not with me looking like I did. So, I cleaned up, we opened our laptop, watched an episode of Seinfeld and finished eating the hotdog and edamame before going to sleep. The next night however, I made sure I got it right. I brought up some chocolate sauce and poured it all over Seb’s chest. Licking it off him, and getting him in the mood, was the best thing I could have done, because that night, we had the wildest sex in a long time. *Names have been changed Deals of the Day The Orlando holiday deal Disney fans shouldn't miss We're adding this discounted NEOM gift set straight to basket Want an LED face mask for less?
