Hyderabad man dies by suicide, accuses financier of harassment in final video

A 43-year-old man allegedly died by suicide after jumping into a lake in Hyderabad, purportedly after facing sustained harassment over the repayment of a loan. He has been identified as Mohammed Rashed Razvi.According to his family, he left behind a self-recorded video before taking the extreme step. In the clip, Rashed accused a financier named Zaker of harassing him and demanding an additional Rs 5 lakh despite the principal amount having been repaid. His body was recovered on September 3, around three days after he allegedly jumped into the lake. Personnel from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) were involved in efforts to retrieve the remains. The search operation was severely hampered by darkness. The search teams were able to recover the body only after it surfaced, having remained submerged in the lake for around three days. It was subsequently shifted to a hospital mortuary for postmortem examination. The police said a missing-person complaint had initially been registered at Shahalibanda Police Station on August 31.However, after the body was recovered, the police registered a case of suspicious death under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) and began an investigation. Rashed's family has alleged that the circumstances surrounding his death require a detailed investigation, particularly the contents of his self-recorded video and his allegations against Zaker.- EndsPublished On: Sep 5, 2026 13:56 IST
