The series has been plagued by frequent hiatuses due to the author's poor health; the current release schedule sees a batch of 10 chapters published on Weekly Shonen Jump approximately every two years. With the release of chapter 419 this past Sunday, it seems that there is only one more week to go before fans are forced to endure another long wait. But things could go differently this time. The upcoming issue 41 of Weekly Shonen Jump will include an advertising page for Hunter x Hunter. These pages are often used to share messages concerning the series. Normally, fans would expect this to be a service announcement about the series going into hiatus again, but there is reason to hope for much better news. Togashi has been hard at work on the manga, updating his fans on his extremely popular X account as usual. According to the latest update at the time of writing, of the next 10 chapters of the manga, six have already been delivered to Shonen Jump, while four more are in various stages of completion. Considering the good progress made by the author and the advertising page in the next issue of Shonen Jump, it's quite possible that Hunter x Hunter won't be entering another long hiatus after the publication of chapter 420. Back in April, Togashi posted on X that the publication schedule for the next batch of chapters would be announced by Shonen Jump, and this could be the case in the next issue of the magazine. Hunter x Hunter has 'returned' before When a similar announcement was made back in 2022, it ended up just confirming that the manga wouldn't be following a weekly schedule anymore (something fans had been painfully aware of for years), along with the vague mention of a "new format." Hopefully, this time the information will be more solid. One option fans have been advocating for a long time is to make Hunter x Hunter a monthly manga, which would give the author plenty of time to work with a lighter schedule that takes his health into account. With 10 new chapters almost ready, this monthly schedule would give Togashi almost one year to work on the following batch. It's still too early to make predictions, but one thing is for sure: Hunter x Hunter has not lost its spark, even with the constant hiatuses.
