Hunkkaar trailer: Aneet Padda takes on Raghubir Yadav's powerful guru, fights abuse

The trailer of Hunkkaar: The Roar, starring Aneet Padda and Fatima Sana Shaikh, is out, and it wastes little time putting its central conflict front and centre. The series follows a young woman who accuses a powerful spiritual guru of assault and sexual abuse, only to find that speaking up is just the beginning of her battle. The trailer opens with Meenu Rawat, played by Aneet, walking into a police station to file a complaint against Baapji, a revered guru played by Raghubir Yadav. What follows is not just an investigation into her allegations, but a closer look at what happens to a woman when she dares to challenge someone with power and influence.Meenu soon finds herself on trial in the court of public opinion. She is questioned, judged and even doubted by those closest to her. Her father, too, struggles to believe her because she does not behave like the ‘perfect’ victim people expect her to be. She is outspoken, confident and unwilling to quietly accept what has happened to her. That is where Fatima Sana Shaikh’s ACP Jasleen Singh Soni comes in. As the police officer assigned to the case, Jasleen begins digging deeper into Meenu’s allegations. The trailer shows her taking on Baapji and his powerful circle, even as threats and pressure start closing in. The series also brings together a strong supporting cast. Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub plays a lawyer described as “the only lawyer who believes Meenu in this country”, while Ram Kapoor takes on the role of Baapji’s lawyer. Arjun Mathur plays a television journalist following the case and its growing fallout. For Aneet, Hunkkaar comes from an interesting place in her career. She shot for the series before Saiyaara turned her into a household name. Talking about Meenu, the actor said, “Meenu isn’t defined by what happened to her, but by what she chooses after. She’s young, complicated and not always easy to understand, that’s what makes her real. Her one constant? A refusal to be silenced.”Hunkkaar: The Roar will premiere on JioHotstar on September 25.- EndsPublished On: Sep 10, 2026 20:02 IST
