Hundreds evacuated from UK holiday park in dead of night and major incident declared as fire crews tackle wildfire

HUNDREDS of holidaymakers were evacuated in the middle of the night as a wildfire raced towards a popular seaside resort. A major incident was declared at Dunwich Heath in Suffolk and 90 firefighters were called to tackle the blaze. Crews successfully evacuated Coastguard Cottages, Mount Pleasant Farm and Cliff House Holiday Park and around 200 caravans at the holiday park in the dead of night. It comes as families flock to the Suffolk coast for the summer holidays. Station manager Dan Davis said the blaze was a “large-scale, wind-driven forestry fire”.
