As it approached the end of the course, however, it appeared unable to brake quickly enough and slammed into the cushion.The impact caused the robot to buckle sharply at the waist before folding over and collapsing onto the track. Sparks were visible as it hit the barrier, leaving the machine sprawled on the ground.The caption accompanying the video said the robot had simply run too fast to brake in time, adding that it had “broken its waist." The World Humanoid Robot Games are essentially a sporting competition built specifically for humanoid robots. The inaugural edition was held in Beijing in August 2025, making it the world's first comprehensive sports event in which humanoid robots competed as athletes.The next games are set to take place in Beijing, China, from August 22 to August 26, 2026. Over 2,000 humanoid robots from 666 teams across 16 countries will compete in 51 events at the Ice Ribbon venue.
