Hulu's Best Fall 2026 Release Announces New Series Coming In 2027

Published Oct 10, 2026, 7:30 PM EDT Merlyn De Souza is a freelance writer and anime enthusiast based in Goa, India, with a Bachelor's in English Literature. When she isn't writing, she can be found exploring various realms of entertainment, including, but not limited to, K-dramas, novels, and even the occasional manhwa. She also enjoys all things creative, like sewing and makeup. The Fall 2026 season has just kicked off, and K-dramas are already off to a great start. Between series like The Perfect Lie starring When The Phone Rings and Phantom Lawyer's Yoo Yeon-seok, and the one-of-a-kind Korean-Japanese lovechild that is Merry Berry Love starring Ji Chang-wook and Mio Imada, Disney Plus and Hulu, in particular, are looking to dominate the Fall K-drama slate and end the year with a bang. That said, easily Hulu's most anticipated release of the season, if not the whole year, is The Remarried Empress, a live-action adaptation of a hit webtoon series with close to 3 billion views. With a cast as stacked as Shin Min-a, Lee Jong-suk, and Ju Ji-hoon, The Remarried Empress is already being hailed as the best K-drama of 2026, so much so that it already has another adaptation on the way before its official release. Disney Plus and Webtoon's The Remarried Empress Is Getting An Anime As Hulu and Disney Plus' K-drama rendition of The Remarried Empress steadily approaches its November 4 premiere, Crunchyroll and Webtoon have come in with a surprise announcement that the hit series by Alphatart and Sumpul will also be getting an anime adaptation. Animated by TROYCA, who have previously worked on anime like Bloom Into You, Dark Moon: The Blood Altar, and the Idolish7 series, The Remarried Empress anime is scheduled for 2027 and will be streaming on Crunchyroll. The announcement was made at New York Comic Con 2026, where the new series also unveiled a trailer, its main voice cast, and character visuals for Empress Navier, Prince Heinrey, Sovieshu, and Rashta, featuring character designs by Jun Nakai. The voice cast for The Remarried Empress anime currently consists of Yoko Hikasa (Rias Gremory in High School DxD and Utahime in Jujutsu Kaisen) as Navier and Reina Ueda (Kanao in Demon Slayer, Reze in Chainsaw Man) as Rashta, Ryohei Kimura as Heinrey, and Tomoaki Maeno as Sovieshu. The series has also revealed its main staff, featuring Tetsuya Yanagisawa as the series director, Akiko Inoue as the series composer and screenwriter. Lastly, Hideyuki Fukusawa, who is best known for Fate Stay/Night: Unlimited Blade Works and Street Fighter IV, will be in charge of the music for this gorgeous, grandiose upcoming anime, with the trailer already giving fans a taste of this score. The Remarried Empress Anime Is Only The Crest of The Oncoming Wave All in all, between the sure-hit live-action and the anime, The Remarried Empress franchise is looking at its most eventful year yet. While the webtoon only just concluded in February 2026, it now looks like this is only the beginning for the franchise, and it's only going to skyrocket in popularity from here on out. The anime adaptation already looks quite promising and could even capture some of the magical elements of the series much better than the live-action series could ever hope. More importantly, an anime is the adaptation with a greater chance of adapting more of the original source material, especially given that The Remarried Empress live-action already looks to be one of the most expensive K-dramas of the entire year. Furthermore, The Remarried Empress anime is only the start, as a new partnership between Crunchyroll, Hayate, and Line Digital Frontier promises to bring with it anime adaptations of about 15 popular Webtoon titles, including JH's The Boxer and Teenage Mercenary. It's about to be a very exciting time for webtoon and manhwa fans, as the medium is carving out its own place in the mainstream, and The Remarried Empress is leading this anime charge.
