It delayed its opening night for a third time yesterday, citing “technical difficulties”. The show, starring Faye Brookes, was originally meant to launch at the New Victoria Theatre in Woking on July 25. That run was delayed to November, with a new opening date set for August 6 at Sunderland Empire. That got moved to August 13, but it hasn’t come to fruition either. I have been told there is complete chaos behind the scenes – and that just over half of the seats have been sold for what is now supposed to be the opening show in Sunderland this evening. Another production of the show by the same team was due to open in London next month, but that’s already been moved to next year, due to further issues behind the scenes. It’s rapidly becoming the biggest palaver in theatre, so my heart goes out to the embattled cast and crew.
