Huge Noughties ITV drama with A-list star set for reboot as actress reveals the ‘scripts are written’

A HUGELY popular ITV drama from the 2000s is set to make a return, with scripts allegedly already written for it. The show amassed nearly 10 million viewers during its five-year run, which the network pulled the plug on after feeling it had hit a natural end point. Sign up for the Showbiz newsletter Thank you! She said: “I am trying to get it back on and trying to get a remake done. “That’s what I am trying for now. I need everyone to get behind it and ask for it. “We have the scripts, we have the actors waiting to do it and it will be amazing. “It’s one of those things where we just need people saying bring back Fat Friends and then we can bring it back.” The star then continued to share how her mum, the show’s creator, has approach producing her scripts. Gaynor continued: “My mum wrote something because people were obsessed with weight. Too big, too small, too fat, too thin, too this, why can’t we just be who we are as long as we’re healthy? “Let’s just accept who we are, let’s get rid of all this. She’s written songs about it – we did ‘Fat Friends the Musical’ and she wrote a song called Love Who You Are and it’s fantastic. Most read in Showbiz “What she, my mum [Kay Mellor], brought to the attention of people, is that this is what used to happen. “She did a lot of research into it, so it’s all based on the truth of what was happening at the time.” Gaynor played the role of Lauren Harris in Fat Friends. During her time on the show, Lauren navigated issues including weight, body images and friendship.
