A HUGE fire has broken out at a waste facility in south east London – sending clouds of dark smoke rising above the city skyline. Fifteen fire engines and around 100 firefighters are responding to the inferno in Deptford. A massive orange fireball could be seen raging at the plant, reportedly based in Southwark. The fire is believed to have broken at a plant located next to a major train line, according to social media footage. Local residents should keep doors and windows closed where possible. “The Brigade was first called about the incident at 1959, and crews from East Greenwich, Old Kent Road, Deptford and surrounding fire stations have been sent to the scene. “The cause of the fire is not yet known.” National Rail have warned the inferno will affect trains travelling between London Bridge, New Cross and New Cross Gate. It has urged passengers to use other routes. A spokesperson said: “A fire on a property between London Bridge and New Cross / New Cross Gate means some lines are blocked. “As a result, trains between these stations may be cancelled, delayed or revised. “Disruption is expected until the end of the day.”
