A HUGE 7.4 magnitude earthquake has rocked Colombia and Ecuador – leaving people trapped beneath rubble. Officials said the quake caused significant damage and injuries in multiple cities – and was felt as far away as Venezuela and Panama. Nubia Carolina Cordoba-Curi, governor of Colombia’s Choco province, said: “We ⁠have just experienced a major earthquake in the department of ⁠Choco. “We are concerned about aftershocks. Although the epicenter was near ​San Jose del ​Palmar, there are ​injuries and significant ‌damage to buildings in the capital, Quibdo. “We are already carrying out a damage assessment and will issue the first official report shortly.” The mayor of Cali, Colombia’s third largest city, reported “major damage”, while the governor of Pereira, around 129 miles away, said there were injuries in the city. Shocking footage showed buildings collapsing as panicked crowds fled into the street. In Bogota, some people ran out into the street in their pajamas as sirens rang out.
