Hudson Brown is top-100 prospect in 2027 MLB Draft Big Board

The 2026 MLB Draft was an overall success for the Kentucky baseball program. The 2027 MLB Draft also has a chance to be a very good thing for the Bat Cats. Nick Mingione‘s squad could produce another high draft pick. First baseman Hudson Brown surprised many when he quickly announced his intentions to return to Lexington for a fourth year shortly after the season ended. That officially put him on draft radars for 2027. Over-Slot has Brown as a top-100 prospect in the first big board since the 2026 MLB Draft ended. After pulling his name from this year's draft, Hudson Brown is back with @UKBaseball for the 2027 season. The Southaven (Miss.) Northpoint Christian product slashed .333/.475/.553 with 12 doubles, seven home runs, 39 RBI, and 44 free passes across 200 plate appearances in 2026. Those numbers would’ve been much better if not for a 12-game absence that included three SEC series and two games against Louisville. After his return to the lineup, Brown found the power button. The left-handed bat was 12-44 (.273) with five home runs and 11 RBI over the final 13 games of the season. That slugging could become very valuable for Kentucky baseball in 2027. Hudson Brown was the first of numerous every day starters to return to Kentucky. Braxton Van Cleave will be back for his sophomore campaign plus Jayce Tharnish and Ethan Hindle withdrew from the draft to return to the lineup. Add that with a top-10 transfer portal haul and the Bat Cats are positioned to make some real noise in the Southeastern Conference and beyond next spring.
