HP’s Googlebook leak highlights support for ‘Continue On,’ Google’s version of Handoff

TL;DR After Lenovo’s leak, we’re getting a glimpse of HP’s upcoming Googlebook. While HP’s leaked Googlebook doesn’t reveal much, it confirms a key software functionality called “Continue On.” Continue On is Google’s analog for Apple-style Handoff between different devices, and is making its first appearance in relation to Googlebooks. An X account posing as, but not officially run by, leaker Evan Blass shared a glimpse of the upcoming HP Googlebook. This is the first leak of HP’s upcoming notebook under the officially confirmed Googlebook banner, and it follows previous leaks of similar devices from other brands, including Acer, ASUS, and Lenovo.The leak only shows the laptop’s screen, featuring Gmail in a two-pane layout similar to what we see on book-style foldables and tablets. On the taskbar, we also see an additional Chrome icon with a tiny phone on it, suggesting Googlebooks could support Apple-style Handoff functionality for web browsing and other supported use cases. The feature has already been previewed as “Continue On,” and could finally make its official debut with Googlebook devices, expected to launch next month. That said, it’s also vital to note that the screenshot appears a bit warped, which puts a dent in our confidence about Continue On actually making its way to Googlebooks.The leak doesn’t reveal many details about HP’s hardware, unlike previous highly revealing leaks for devices of other brands. Blass doesn’t shed any light on aspects such as the display size, the keyboard, or touchscreen support on the device. The image hints at a dark blue or bluish-gray color for the outer shell and top case, along with a physical shutter for the webcam. The laptop doesn’t seem to have a detachable form factor, though it might support 360º rotation along the hinge.Based on early leaks, Googlebooks are expected to come with a variety of chips from Intel, Qualcomm, or MediaTek.
