Canonical engineer Juerg Haefliger posted a set of Device Tree patches in working to support the mainline Linux kernel on the HP EliteBook 6 G1q laptop that is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon X1 Plus SoC. While there have been a lot of Linux enablement work happening recently around the latest Snapdragon X2 hardware, there remains gaps in the Snapdragon X1 support for some laptops especially for the X1 Plus tier that's a step below their prior-gen flagship X1 Elite. Haefliger posted the patches on Tuesday for enabling the EliteBook 6 G1q with Snapdragon X1P42100, which is similar to the existing HP OmniBook X14 supported by the mainline kernel but with an Ethernetp ort and fingerprint reader. With these patches, the mainline kernel should be playing nicely with this laptop at least as far as all main functionality: " Confirmed working on real hardware: - Keyboard - Touchpad - Touchscreen - USB A and C ports - Ethernet NIC - HDMI-A port - Wifi - Bluetooth - Integrated Speakers and microphone - Camera - Fingerprint reader - WWAN modem" The eDP display panel and WWAN modem patches will be posted separately. Hopefully these patches will make it to the mainline kernel tree soon.
