How Victoria Beckham Played a Part in Mel C.’s Wedding Despite Snubbing Ceremony for World Cup Final

Congratulations are in order for Mel C., who got married over the weekend! And while her Spice Girls’ bandmate Victoria Beckham wasn’t present for the nuptials, she was there in a special, different way.ICYMI, Spain beat Argentina last night to be named the World Cup champions, in a 120-minute game played at the MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. Watching on from the stands were the likes of Kylie Jenner and Timothée Chalamet, as well as ex-England footballer David Beckham, alongside his extended family, including wife Victoria.This meant Victoria wasn’t present at her long-term friend Mel’s wedding, where she married partner Chris Dingwall in a private countryside ceremony at Country House Cumbria, three years after they met.CHARLY TRIBALLEAU//Getty ImagesVictoria and David at the World Cup final.But that doesn’t mean she wasn’t thinking of her Spice Girls bandmate on the day, with the pair later sharing that the dress Mel wore on her wedding day was something from VB’s fashion brand.Speaking to British Vogue about Mel’s wedding dress, Victoria revealed, "I obviously offered to make her dream dress,” using her existing design, the Lace Cami dress, as a starting point. “Melanie is quite minimalist and didn’t want anything too fussy, conceptual or overly complicated—this is all very aligned with what I do.”Mel revealed Victoria was at many of the fittings at her atelier in London, saying, “Victoria was so excited about being able to do this for me… Every step of the way has been very special.”Meanwhile, a source told Daily Mail that the dress was “a gift from Victoria; they are really close. Victoria would have loved to have been there if she could.”They added, “She was sad she couldn’t be there because she’s in the U.S. with David, and of course, the World Cup plans had been set for a long time. But she was wishing her all the best from afar for Mel’s special day.”
