How to watch Lifetime’s ‘The Ocean Between Them’ premiere for free

The survival movie also marks the screen acting debut of Gayheart’s real-life daughter, Georgia Dane, who is also the daughter of the late Eric Dane.Those without cable can still watch the premiere live on Saturday with Philo. What real events inspired “The Ocean Between Them”?Lifetime describes The Ocean Between Them as a story inspired by actual events, but it has not identified one incident or family as the basis for Joan and Miranda’s story. The Cinemaholic reports that the film’s writers have not credited a specific case and suggests the movie draws more broadly on real accounts of survival at sea and families searching for missing loved ones. As an example of survival at sea, The Cinemaholic points to sailor Tami Lee Oldham Ashcraft. She was left alone on a damaged boat after a 1983 hurricane and made it to Hawaii 41 days later. The site also cites the disappearance of Amy Lynn Bradley from a cruise ship in 1998 as a parallel to a family’s uncertainty when someone vanishes at sea.
