More importantly, he's still waiting for a new Ape Escape game to release. Marvel Tokon is the latest fighting game from developer Arc System Works that pits some of the comics' most iconic heroes and villains against one another. Boasting an impressive roster of characters, players will have access to nearly everyone from the moment they boot up the game. I say nearly because there is actually a hidden character called Champion that you can unlock. Completely unique when compared to the other fighters, Champion is a hard-hitting villain that doesn't make use of the Assemble mechanic like everyone else. If you're looking to unlock this new character and give him a spin, here's how to obtain Champion. To unlock Champion, you will need to complete the entirety of the Fighting Avengers Episode. These Episodes are Marvel Tokon's story mode and serve to both familiarize players with the large roster and explain why everyone is beating the hell out of one another. Told through a mix of in-game fights, moving comic images, and anime cutscenes, these Episodes take around 90 minutes each to complete. If you specifically want Champion, you will need to go to the Episodes menu and then select the "Fighting Avengers" image on the left. Now progress through all eleven chapters, and at the very end, you will unlock Champion to play in any game mode you want. This Episode revolves around Captain America assembling his team (Iron Man, Black Panther, and the Hulk) to participate in Champion's tournament to save the planet. During each of the chapters, you'll need to complete one fight that's tied to the story. These include solo matches with each of the Fighting Avengers team excluding Captain America, all four of the other participating teams, a mini-game battle against the Promoter, and then three consecutive boss battles against Champion. Your fights, except with the Promoter and Champion, will be extremely straightforward. Just win two rounds before your foe does to claim victory. As for the Promoter, this will be more of a mini-game than a traditional battle. In this fight, you'll need to build up your Skill Gauge by attacking the Promoter until she shields herself and becomes invulnerable. When this happens, attack the projectile she throws out to further increase your Skill Gauge until the shield drops. Continue attacking her until her shield reappears and more objects are thrown at you. Eventually, you'll need to perform a Tokon Assemble while in the spotlight she summons. This can be done by just hitting the Light Button multiple times in succession while attacking the Promoter. Once you perform this move, the fight will be over. The latter opponent will be your biggest roadblock. Champion will be fought three times in a row, with each subsequent fight becoming tougher and giving this opponent access to new, stronger moves. During the first fight, Champion will play mostly defensively until he loses about 60 percent of his health. Once he hits this threshold, Champion will become much more aggressive and start attacking you. Despite having no backup, Champion does a silly amount of damage, so don't take him lightly, as he can deplete large portions of your health bar in a single combo. There will now be two more fights with Champion, each of which requires you to win two rounds against him. The first battle will be him in his Primordial form, while the second is a battle against his Awakened form. Champion will be way more aggressive and deadly this time around, able to perform full combos, Counters, and even Crossovers. Do not take him lightly, as Champion can summon after-images of himself to act as teammates during Assemble attacks, has access to projectiles, and two Supers. Defeating both of these forms will conclude the chapter and unlock Champion to be used in any mode except for Episodes. Champion himself is for those who prefer large brawlers and want not to rely on summoning their teammates in to fight. In fact, Champion will actively punish you for it as you'll want to build up his Pride Gauge, which allows him access to his Awakened form after performing a Super on an opponent. This fighter's unique skill also revolves around grappling your opponents along with posing to further fill up your Pride Gauge. He is a two-star character, making him one of the most difficult heroes to play in the game. However, if you prefer to only ever think about one character while fighting, Champion is a solid choice that is a big boy who does big damage to anyone foolish enough to be caught in his combos.
