To get a balanced team - and have enough backups in case anyone takes an injury - you'll want to have plenty of operators handy. There are more than enough to choose from, but a feature that is not immediately obvious is the ability to make your own. This means you can blast through the game with a party of your own characters, get by on presets, or mix it up, depending on the situation. Here is everything you need to know about recruiting operators in Star Wars Zero Company. What Is An Operator? An operator is any character you can bring with you during missions or assign tasks during operations. The player character, Hawks, is an operator, as are major characters like Trick and Kabb. Operators can have one of the following specialisations: Assault Gunslinger Heavy Medic Soldier Sharpshooter Scout Scoundrel Early on in the game, you will unlock the ability to recruit more operators. By default, these will be premade operators, all with their own specialisation, talent, and personality. However, as previously mentioned, you can make your own and recruit them. How To Recruit Operators Recruiting new operators is as simple as approaching a terminal behind the holotable. From here, you can browse the currently available operators, or refresh the page if none of them is what you are looking for. Recruiting a new operator costs credits, and that cost depends on how far you are in the game. The further you are, the more expensive it is to bring someone on. They will come with some focus points to spend, so they shouldn't lag behind the rest of your crew too much. However, you will have to build up their bonds from scratch. You have a limited number of operators you can have at any given time. That limit is displayed at the top of the page. To increase the cap, upgrade the crew quarters on a terminal to the left of the recruitment terminal. To free up a slot, you can fire an operator at any time from the terminal to your right. The slot will also be free if an operator dies. On the main menu, go to Character Database. Here, you will see two tabs: custom characters and astromechs. Custom characters is where you go if you want to make a human or alien operator, while astromechs will let you make your own mechs. You won't be able to recruit custom characters until you've paid off the Hutt debt, and you won't be able to recruit astromechs until you've built the droid repair bay - but you can make them whenever you want, so they're ready. When you go to make a custom character, you will find that there are many more options available to you than when you were making your Hawks. The races available are: Clone Devaronian Human Ovissian Neimoidian Mirialan Rodian Togruta Twi'lek Zabrak Weequay Each race has different aesthetic customisation options available. You'll then choose their voice, which also dictates their personality and how they'll speak in-game. Then, you build up their gameplay mechanics: their specialisation, their talent, and their weapon class. Once they're named, go ahead and save them. They will appear on a list alongside any of your other creations. If you want your custom operator to appear in-game, make sure to mark them as active by clicking the circle next to their name.
