How To Counter And Crossover In Marvel Tokon

Marvel Tokon: Counter And Crossovers Guide Published Aug 6, 2026, 1:50 PM EDT Collin is a Guides Staff Writer at TheGamer who has been writing guides for nearly ten years. He is also a professional game/level designer. More importantly, he's still waiting for a new Ape Escape game to release. Heroes (or villains) assemble, because Marvel Tokon has finally been released. This fighting game pits all manner of Marvel's greatest superheroes and supervillains against one another in a 4v4 match. Unlike some other tag fighters such as 2KXO, all four characters on your team share a singular health bar and are solely controlled by one person. Because of this, understanding how to counter enemy attacks will be critical to success since they tie into your roster of additional characters. If you're new to fighters in general or just struggling to successfully stop your opponent's advanced attacks, here's a breakdown of how to perform counters and crossovers. How To Assemble Counter The Assemble Counter is a way for you to stop an oncoming attack and call in one of your other team members to hit them directly after. Doing so will cause your character to back dash, leaving orange afterimages of themselves as they step back about a foot or so. The entire animation lasts 60 frames (1 second), and any damage you take from any source your opponent throws out at you during the first 20 frames will trigger the Assemble Counter. The input for an Assemble Counter is: ⭠ + Light Attack + Assemble Hitting these buttons at the same time will trigger an Assemble Counter, which will cost you a single meter of the Assembly Gauge (green bar below your health). Because of this, you won't be able to just spam Assemble Counters during a match, so don't try to lean on them too heavily. Additionally, if you are struck after the 20-frame window upon activation, you will still be hit, so timing is key if you want to land this counter. Where things get dangerous is if you whiff the entirety of the Assemble Counter, you will be completely defenseless for the duration of the lengthy animation. This leaves you completely open to being attacked by your opponent and is easily punishable if poorly timed. Try to use Assemble Counters to either give yourself space or force enemies back if you're trapped in the corner. Along with the Assemble Counter, you can also perform a Crossover. This is done by hitting both the Light Attack and Assemble buttons at the same time right after you block your opponent's attack. Doing so will call in one of your team members to hit your opponent regardless of where they are on the screen. The input for the Crossover is: (After a successful block) Light Attack + Assemble A Crossover can be performed both on the ground or in the air, so long as you trigger it right after a successful block. Performing a Crossover counter costs one meter on your Assemble Gauge and cannot be performed if you have less than one full meter. Meaning, if you have basically depleted your entire Assemble Gauge, a Crossover will not trigger until at least one of the three chucks is filled. Because of this, you can punish players who overuse their Assemble Gauge or fail to manage it, as they will be unable to perform a Crossover until they get access to a full meter. Where things get tricky is that you can actually perform a Crossover Reflect to counter an opponent's Crossover attack on you. A Crossover Reflect is done by hitting: Light Attack + Assemble (during an opponent's Crossover attack). When you trigger a successful Crossover Reflect, your own ally will appear on screen and block the initial Crossover attack your opponent launched. Additionally, if you wait to activate the Crossover Reflect until you're about to be hit by the opposing Crossover, you'll actually get a Perfect Crossover Reflect. Unlike a normal Crossover Reflect, a perfect one sees your teammate not only block the incoming attack, but launch one of their own. If this happens, the enemy character will be knocked down and hindered with the "Disassembled" status effect. While you have the Disassemble debuff, you will have zero access to any Assemble-related moves or counters. It can be back-breaking, but similar to the regular Crossover, this will cost you one meter of your Assembly Gauge. Again, if you don't have access to a single full meter, a Crossover Reflect cannot be triggered.
