Dressmaker starts its story with a...tragedy?...for the town of Twillford: the local duke has recently died, leaving his nephew Hassan to inherit his estate after the funeral. The new Duke Hassan is apparently quite the attractive man, as it seems like every eligible bachelorette in Twillford is keen to make an appearance at the funeral to "comfort" him, much to his sister Priya's frustration. To impress the townsfolk for your first major event as the local Dressmaker, you'll need to complete three unique commissions for funeral attire. Which Commissions Are Included In The Duke's Funeral Event? There are three commissions directly associated with the duke's funeral in Dressmaker. Flamboyant Funeral has you make a dress for Prudence. Prudence is determined to impress the new Duke Hassan at his uncle's funeral, and therefore demands a dress that stands out from the crowd. It must be elegant and glamourous, and cannot contain any black fabric. Fierce Funeral has you make a dress for Priya. Priya, frustrated by the advances of her brother's many suitresses, wants to strike an intimidating figure at her uncle's funeral to stop them from approaching him. It must be formal and gothic, and it must only use black fabric. Respectful Funeral has you make a dress for Marie. Marie, a recent return to Twillford, is attending the funeral as her diplomat boss's assistant, and while not particularly invested in the event itself, wants to get something appropriate to wear. It must be formal, elegant, and simple, using at least 50% black fabric. These commissions come in one right after another, and are the second, third, and fourth commissions you get in the game, following the Librarian Workwear tutorial commission. How To Complete Each Commission For The Duke's Funeral Each funeral dress's requirements need to be met by choosing the correct pattern pieces, fabrics, and accessories. While there are plenty of options for each one, here are some suggestions to help you start your design. For Flamboyant Funeral, choose something like the Cinched Keyhole Blouse or One Shoulder Bodice for their elegant tag; I like to pair these with the Mermaid Skirt for elegance in the silhouette. Use a glamorous fabric like silk, velvet, or lace in any color but black to meet your requirements. This is the most expensive of the three commissions to produce, so watch your budget carefully here to ensure you have enough money for the next two projects. For Fierce Funeral, choose something along the lines of the Elevated Sweetheart Bodice and Pencil Skirt, maybe with Flounce Sleeves, in almost any black fabric, though the Black Wool Pinstripes work extremely well here. For Respectful Funeral, a very simple gown with the Kimono Bodice and either the Pencil or Princess Skirt in a black silk, velvet, or lace is perfect. This commission thankfully doesn't require any expensive materials, so should net you a good profit. If you ever find that your dress isn't quite meeting your requirement numbers with pattern and fabric choice alone, you can add accessories that match the requirements for that commission. For these dresses, you might add the Pearl Detailing, Black Lace, and Black Ribbon, respectively.
