Halloween has arrived in Pokemon Pokopia, and with it comes two new Pokemon to add to your town. The Pumpkaboo's Sweet Surprises event runs through the latter half of October 2026 and will feature several Halloween-themed items available for purchase inside the Pokemon Center. To unlock all of these items, which are necessary to welcome the two new Halloween Pokemon, Ditto will be tasked with scaring the Pokemon residents already living in town. Doing so will earn Ditto Pumpkin Candies, which can then be exchanged for spooky decorations. When Does The Pokopia Halloween Event End? As mentioned, the Halloween event will run from mid-October to the end of the month. Specifically, you'll be able to collect and exchange Pumpkin Candy from October 17, 2026, at 5:00 am local time to November 1, 2026, at 4:59 am local time. At that point, you will no longer be able to exchange Pumpkin Candy for the available Halloween items. However, if you did collect at least one of each item during that time, you can use Pokemetal to make more. How To Scare Pokemon And Earn Treats When you first open Pokopia during the event dates listed above, you should get a notification that a Pokemon is the talk of the town. If you don't see this message, double-check that your game is updated and that your Switch 2 is synced to the correct date and time. Not every Pokemon Center will have the event, so it's best to head to the Withered Wastelands, where you should see the Pokemon Center decorated for Halloween. Out front, you should also find Pumpkaboo floating around, whom you can speak with to start the event. Pumpkaboo will ask you to scare, or surprise, Pokemon by using your camouflage ability to disguise yourself as things they like. When they notice you, you'll turn back into Ditto and surprise them, after which they'll reward you with Pumpkin Candy. You can scare any of the Pokemon in your town, but not every Pokemon will respond to every item. For example, Hitmontop will respond to a Punching Bag, but a Bulbasaur won't. If you don't want things to be too complicated, there are a few items that apply to a wide variety of Pokemon, such as toy blocks, but you can always check their Pokedex entry to see what items they like. Pokemon will reward you with anywhere between 1–3 Pumpkin Candies for each scare, and you can scare the same Pokemon more than once. Repeat this process as many times as you'd like, then head inside the Pokemon Center to exchange your Pumpkin Candies for the various Halloween items. Each item will have its own price, and you will need almost all of these items to build the habitat for not only Pumpkaboo, but Gourgeist as well. The items available for purchase are: Item Image Pumpkin Lantern Cost: 2 Pumpkin Candies Pumpkin Lantern Tower Cost: 2 Pumpkin Candies Ghost Smoke Projector Cost: 3 Pumpkin Candies Huge Table Cost: 1 Pumpkin Candy Trevenant Streetlight Cost: 2 Pumpkin Candies Candy Bucket Cost: 2 Pumpkin Candies Cofagrigus Locker Cost: 3 Pumpkin Candies Eerie Statue Cost: 3 Pumpkin Candies Fun Balloons Cost: 2 Pumpkin Candies While you can build the habitats for Pumpkaboo and Gourgeist as soon as you have the items, only Gourgeist will spawn and be able to use its habitat right away. Pumpkaboo will remain in the Pokemon Center until the end of the event, at which point you will be able to move it into the habitat you've built for it. For Gourgeist's habitat, you will need to stack the Pumpkin Lantern Tower on top of the Pumpkin Lantern. If you don't, it will not register the habitat.
