It can be a lot of fun, too, as you can make some beautiful little settlements. Now you have a greater chance of creating eye-catching homes, thanks to the 1.0 Update. This is because you can now build on top of water. So, you can make your bases feel a bit more aquatic. However, you can't do this straight away. You must unlock the privilege of building atop the sea. This is how you do that. Unlock The Aquatic Construction Kit You can't build on the water with regular structures. You need the Aquatic Construction Kit. This can be unlocked on Level 66 in the Technology menu. It isn't a regular Technology unlock, though; it's Ancient Technology, meaning it's in the purple column on the right of the menu. It costs four Ancient Technology points to unlock. Then you must get 200 Cement, 50 Coralum Ingots, and 100 High-Quality Wooden Boards. This is how you acquire all of that: Item Required Resources Required Machine Cement (Per 10) 20 Stone, 1 Bone, and 1 Aquatic Fluid. High-Quality Workbench Coralum Ingot (Per 1) 2 Coralum Ore and 5 Coal. Gigantic Furnace High-Quality Wooden Board (Per 1) 10 Hardwood, 10 Wood, and 2 High-Quality Cloth. Production Assembly Line 2 You can get Coralum Ore from the salvage spots around Feybreak Island or by raiding the chests on the Rayne Syndicate Oil Rig. Once you have the resources, you can build the kit using a Production Assembly Line 2 or Advanced Workshop. How To Build On Water With the Aquatic Construction Kit crafted, you can now build on water. You don't get any special building equipment. The stuff you already have in the build menu will now simply work on water. For instance, if you want to build a dock, you can start placing Wooden Foundations on the water's surface. You can also place Logging Sites and Stone Pits on water. However, workbenches, chests, and things like that need to be on solid ground. But you can put them onto a Wooden Foundation that is on the water.
