Of all the Phantom Edges in Phantom Blade Zero, none are quite as protective as the Bastion. It's a massive shield that blocks all incoming damage while still letting you damage enemies with bash attacks and pass through certain areas of the map unharmed. Luckily, it's one of the easier ones to attain in the game, simply by following the story. All things considered, beating the boss to earn it isn't much harder than some of the other bosses, but you've got to stay patient and trust the process. Here's how to get the Bastion in Phantom Blade Zero. Where To Find The Bastion Once you've made it to the Village Of Lu, the first boss you face will be Zhuo Bi, The Gatekeeper. To get to him, follow the road to the Village of Lu rather than the Mandate Encampment; after you pass Old Man Gen's hideout, Zhuo Bi will be just across the bridge. You can avoid him if you need to by going left to Young Master Lan's hideout, but obviously this won't get you the Bastion. However, it is good to go this way first, as the bell at Master Lan's hideout is a bit closer than the one at Old Man Gen's hideout. Luckily, after facing Bai Chilian, Zhuo Bi is a fairly simple boss fight. His only weapon is the Bastion itself, which does little damage and is relatively slow. Unfortunately, because the shield blocks all incoming damage, patience is the real name of his game. Don't waste your Sha Chi on attacking Zhuo Bi; no attacks will do any damage. He has only a few attacks, and you can parry almost all of them. The only ones you can't are a couple of leap or slide attacks, and the one where he slams the shield into the ground, causing spikes to rise and deal damage. Those are the only ones you'll have to dodge. To damage him, you have to parry enough of his attacks to fully break his guard before the game prompts you to press Circle on PS5 to mount him and stab him in the eye. You can only do this once per cycle, and it should take about four cycles to fully take him down. While you can't damage him unless his guard is fully broken, you can damage the shield slowly by using some of your Phantom Edges. The Iron Gauntlets and the Dread Axe have some of the best Shield-Breaking Power, so use them when you get a break in his attacks, and you'll have him beat before you know it. How To Use The Bastion The Bastion is one of the better defensive Phantom Edges in the game, which makes sense, as it's a massive shield. On PS5, you hold R2 to take out the shield and keep it out, which slowly drains Sha Chi. Any damage you take will also drain your Sha Chi, so keep an eye on the meter. You can press L1 on PS5 to shove enemies standing in front of the Bastion, and if you release R2 while you still have Sha Chi available, you'll smash the shield down and damage any enemies hit by the shockwave. That damage scales based on how much damage the shield absorbed. As a traversal Phantom Edge, you can use it to get past repeating crossbow mechanisms, like the ones that are in the Thieves' Camp Dungeon in the Crimson Forest. As with all Phantom Edge traversal functions, you don't need to have it equipped to use it for those purposes.
