More importantly, he's still waiting for a new Ape Escape game to release. Suit up vampire hunters because Castlevania: Belmont's Curse is finally here. In this entry in this legendary Metroidvania franchise, you assume the role of Rose Belmont, who is sent to Paris to investigate a monstrous outbreak taking place in this city. To survive this nightmare, you'll need to expand your arsenal of weapons and spells. Magic comes in the form of Tarot Cards, which must be hunted down and individually unlocked. One of the first ones is The Fallen, which will be introduced to you early on during your exploration of the Paris streets. The Fallen Tarot Unlock Guide A Lever For The Well "The monster . . . hunts for souls . . . tried to trap it . . . hid the lever . . . near the barrels . . ." For the first step of this quest, you will need to unlock the trap door to the sewer system below Paris. This can be done right below when you first speak to the spirit and learn about The Fallen card. After talking with the spirit, drop down to the lower platform with all the barrels and attack the left wall (shown above). This will break it apart, exposing a hidden area with a lever. Approach the lever and interact with it to open a passage by the well directly below you. Drop into the hole and fall all the way down into the sewer system, then proceed right. Don't worry about losing health, there's no fall damage in this game! A Monster Terrorizes Paris "Its unholy cross . . . it cleaves through all . . . steel can shatter it . . . if the strike lands true." Once you are in the sewers, keep heading to the right. Your path is almost entirely linear here, so keep fighting your way through the undead until you make your way down a zig-zag tunnel. At the bottom will be another spirit, who will offer another clue towards unlocking this card. Defeat The Fallen Okay, so it turns out the unholy cross is actually referencing The Fallen, which is a boss you will encounter in the next room. Despite being the first boss you'll face in the game, do not underestimate him, as he hits like a damn truck. While his move set is fairly limited, The Fallen does a comical amount of damage and he is pretty tanky. This means you'll need to play more defensively in this fight and only strike during opportune moments. You won't have any upgrades for this and can easily lose most of your life from his melee combo attack. Your healing items will also be limited, but try to take minimal damage from the normal enemies if you're running back from the save room. When the fight starts, The Fallen will throw a spinning cross at you on the ground. This projectile will launch out in a straight line in front of him, stop, and then return to the boss. You can avoid this by either jumping over the cross or running far enough away that it doesn't reach you. If you're close to The Fallen, getting behind him will give you an opening to attack him for a few seconds. Just be careful, as the cross can fly past him and hit you. His second main attack is a three-piece melee strike where he slashes multiple times in front of him. He is capable of turning behind him during this move if you dodge behind the boss. Because of this, you want to back up and wait for the first two swipes and then only slide behind him when he initiates his third attack. Doing so will ensure the boss is locked into facing that direction, giving you a nice window to chip away at his health. After a few smacks, I recommend getting away from him, as The Fallen will often follow up with the spinning cross or another melee combo attack again. Keep at this until the boss loses around 30 percent of his health to push him to phase two. After The Fallen roars, he will gain access to two more moves. The first sees him swing from the ceiling, raking his claws across the ground as he passes by. Once he is over you, the boss will slam himself into the ground and perform a small AoE (area-of-effect) blast around him. You can dodge the claw rake by sliding through it and, once the boss jumps off the chain, move away from him to avoid the slam. When he hits the ground, run back and slash at him a few times. This move is quite easy to dodge and The Fallen will lean on it frequently, so as long as you dodge the claw slash as he swings by, you should have no issue countering this move. His other attack is a little more annoying, as he will try to snare you in the chain if you get too much distance from him. You can see when he does this move by the chain appearing around his arm, and you'll only have about a second to react before it's launched across the bottom of the arena. Make sure to jump over this to avoid being hit, otherwise, he will pull himself towards you! Other than these moves, The Fallen will continue using his normal melee combo and cross attacks. Focus on playing defensively, only attacking when the boss either finishes his ground pound or slashes. It's usually not worth trying to punish the other moves, as he has a fairly quick recovery time and can do a lot of damage. Upon beating the boss you will complete The Fallen Tarot Card and unlock the Holy Cross ability. This allows you to hurl the cross in front of you like The Fallen could. Additionally, you can use this enemy's chain to grapple onto specific points to swing or pull yourself across the map.
