Fruit flies seek out fermenting organic matter and moist breeding sites, so you will want rethink how you store your food. This is especially important in the summer months, and into early autumn, as fruit continues to ripen at a faster rate. The experts at Rentokil recommend refrigerating all your soft fruits to prevent fruit flies from accessing them. This includes “vulnerable” fruit such as grapes and strawberries, which fruit flies pierce to lay their larvae inside of. As well as storing these fruits in the fridge, you should also make a habit of checking your non-refrigerated items daily.
