It's been a very long time since Castlevania fans have had anything to be excited about, but that finally changes today with the launch of Castlevania: Belmont's Curse, the first new game in over a decade. Unlike Lords of Shadow, Belmont's Curse brings the series back to the 2D exploration games that everyone loves so much, with a massive map and tons of secrets to boot. Here's how long you can expect to sink in. How Long Does It Take To Beat? Like pretty much every other game in the series, Castlevania: Belmont's Curse focuses on Rose Belmont going up against Dracula and his minions. To be powerful enough to take him on, Rose needs to find and defeat powerful bosses that are scattered around Dracula's Castle and, in a nice change for the series, some locations around Paris. If you're just gunning to see anything but the bad ending, you'll need to collect all of these Arcana, which means exploring a very good chunk of the map. Without any guidance, it took me around 12 hours to get the Normal ending, which still left me with a bunch of weapons, Relics, and secrets to uncover around the map. One major thing that's worth considering when it comes to how long Belmont's Curse takes to beat is its difficulty level, which is among the hardest games in the series. You'll really need to get good and level Rose up to have any hope of making it to the end of the game, which can add some hours to your playtime depending on your skill level. How Long Does It Take To 100 Percent? Of course, the real joy of a Castlevania game is reaching 100 percent completion, and you've got your work cut out for you in Belmont's Curse. You'll need to defeat all 16 bosses, complete every single Tarot card, reach the True Ending, explore the entire map, find all 45 Relics and 28 weapons, level up each Arcana by completing their Works of Mercy, and collect every stat upgrade. All of that is reflected in the Platinum trophy, too, as you won't be able to unlock it until you hit 100 percent completion in-game. That may sound like a lot, and it is, but the good news is that you'll naturally make some progress in all areas just by going for the Normal ending and playing through. After that, it's just a lot of clean-up and hunting down anything you might have missed in your playthrough. I'm still ticking things off myself after 18 hours, but overall, you're looking at around 20 or more hours to 100 percent Castlevania: Belmont's Curse.
