Sign in to your TheGamer account If you're as sick of waiting for a new Kingdom Hearts, Ratchet & Clank, or Jak & Daxter game as the rest of us, then you're going to want to check out Duskfade, a 3D platformer inspired by PS2 gems. Duskfade's inspirations are just a jumping-off point for what ends up being a very heartfelt, original, and impressive indie game that's more than just a referential melting pot. Here's what to expect from your time with it. How Long Does It Take To Beat? Duskfade sees protagonist Zirian on a quest to rescue his sister from a mysterious tower, which leads him to find and break four chains to open its doors. That means that Duskfade is split into four primary worlds, each with its own set of collectibles to find, upgrades for Zirian that let you explore more of the world, and bosses to take on. Duskfade also has an opening mission and a lengthy final encounter outside of the four main worlds. Four worlds might not sound like much, but each world is split into two distinct areas, and both are pretty expansive. Just going through each world is likely to take at least a couple of hours for each. If you're looking to mainline Duskfade and beat it without too much exploration, you're looking at around 10 to 12 hours to beat Duskfade. How Long Does It Take To 100 Percent? Just like the many PS2 games it's inspired by, Duskfade has plenty to see and do beyond just completing the game. Each world has tons of collectibles to find, from health and mana upgrades for Zirian to resources that let you purchase new moves and improve the Minutero. There are also hidden rift challenges, kittens that unlock new outfits, and antique coins that let you buy cards in the game's hub world. By far the hardest collectible to find in the game are broken stained glass pieces that reveal one of Duskfade's biggest secrets. These are much more hidden than the rest of the game's collectibles, and require revisiting each world and turning over every stone. With all of that in mind, there's a lot of optional content for Zirian and Cuckoo to uncover. Sadly, there's no option to make finding collectibles easier, so you're just going to have to do it old school and properly explore each level. If you're looking to 100 percent Duskfade, then you're easily looking at between 15 and 20 hours, depending on how much you collected during your initial playthrough. Considering it's an indie game made by a small studio, that's pretty impressive, and well worth the asking price if you're looking for a throwback 3D platformer.
