House Republicans are secretly admitting that they will lose the majority in November: report

Some Republicans in the House of Representatives have secretly admitted that they will lose the majority in the midterm elections this November, according to a new report. President Donald Trump has been fiercely campaigning for GOP candidates in red states that would normally be easy for Republicans to win. Trump has recently held rallies in Texas, Ohio and Alaska to stump for Republican Senate candidates, but members of his party are reportedly worried that the House will slip through their fingers. Five senior Republicans on Capitol Hill anonymously aired their concerns to Politico, with one saying that the party just hopes to “save as many Republican seats as we can.”“President Trump has made this election all about himself,” the House Republican said. “Now we have to survive that political storm.”White House Assistant Press Secretary Liz Huston told The Independent, “President Trump is committed to maintaining Republican majorities in both the House and Senate.” Some Republicans in the House of Representatives have secretly admitted that they will lose the majority in the midterm elections this November, according to a new report (AFP via Getty Images)Term-limited Trump has been traveling across the U.S. to plead with his supporters to vote Republican. “I want you to do me one big favor — pretend that I'm on the ballot because here's what happens. Every time I’ve been on the ballot, we win,” the president said at his rally in Wasilla, Alaska, on Tuesday. But the president is struggling with record-low approval ratings amid an unpopular Iran war and a high cost of living. Sixty-five percent of Americans disapproved of Trump’s job as president, while just 32 percent approved in a recent Reuters/Ipsos poll.Trump has even resorted to promising Americans $5,000 checks if Republicans keep control of Congress, which critics have called a bribe. “If Republicans win the House of Representatives and the Senate, I’m going to give all adult citizens in the United States $5,000,” the president said in Alaska. The Congressional Leadership Fund, the leading super PAC supporting House Republican candidates, canceled advertising in Nebraska and Iowa to put the money toward other races, Politico reported. The Senate Leadership Fund, the main super PAC backing GOP Senate candidates, then reportedly took the airtime to support Republicans running for Senate seats in those states. “These are not the moves of a party that’s going to keep the House,” another Republican lawmaker told Politico. The Congressional Leadership Fund told the outlet it was unwavering in its fight to keep control of the House. The super PAC’s president, Chris Winkelman, said the goal is to “keep the pressure on the most vulnerable Democrats and preserve a path to 218 seats.”Term-limited Trump has been traveling across the U.S. to plead with his supporters to vote Republican, telling them to ‘pretend that I'm on the ballot’ (AFP via Getty Images)Trump was in Bullhead City, Arizona, Wednesday to campaign for Congressman Andy Biggs, who is running against Democratic incumbent Katie Hobbs for governor, and congressional candidates Mark Lamb and Abe Hamadeh. At the rally, Trump called Hobbs “dumb” and contrasted her intelligence with that of his on-and-off friend, tech billionaire Elon Musk.“I know smart people. I deal from Elon [Musk] down to Katie [Hobbs],” Trump said. “Elon’s 80 percent super genius — and 20 percent he got a little problem, I always tell him. He’s a great guy, though.”He told the crowd, “We gotta elect” Biggs. “I'm here to help him and some of your great congressmen,” the president said.
