They paired the announcement with a new song, “Random Violence,” a tribute to the late Optimo DJ JD Twitch. Check out the Jack Cole-directed video of it below.“Last year in September our old friend and brilliant DJ Keith McIvor of Optimo in Glasgow passed away after a diagnosis of an inoperable brain tumour a few months earlier,” Hot Chip’s Joe Goddard shared in a statement. "He largely inspired the words of the song. He was a passionate music lover and a staunch believer in socialism. Many of the words relate directly to his death and to memories of being in Sub Club in Glasgow where we met 20 years ago.”A Long Way From Kansas marks bandmember Felix Martin’s first time singing on a Hot Chip record, and also features Beth Ditto and Eddie Chacon. The record follows Hot Chip’s 2022 album Freakout/Release. Since then, the band have shared a 2025 reissue of their greatest-hits collection Joy In Repetition, appeared on the second season of Netflix’s Beef, and celebrated the 20th anniversary of their second album, The Warning.A Long Way From Kansas: 01 Stuck Around 02 Waiting Around 03 Random Violence 04 The Mask Is Slipping 05 Splinter 06 Shortcut To Love 07 Me In Your Head ft.
