Outback Heat has not been seen since his excellent Britannia second at Royal Ascot from a bad draw and is another for the shortlist. Blue Courvoisier ran a cracker against older horses at Goodwood and comes into the reckoning dropping in trip. Lightly-raced Eklleem hasn’t been clobbered with a mark of 87 for this handicap debut after an easy Ripon win. He shaped well over course and distance on debut and is another with place prospects. 3.35 NIGHT RAIDER can bounce back from a good draw in the Nunthorpe. Karl Burke’s flyer had looked better than ever earlier this season, landing the Palace House before overcoming a tardy start to win the Temple Stakes at Haydock. This is his optimum 5f, some cut suits and a return to his spring level gives him every chance. He’s had excuses for his past two failures – a bad draw at Ascot and Goodwood’s rollercoaster. Bacio is a fascinating danger after demolishing a big-field Royal Ascot handicap in a performance worthy of Group 1 company. He remains open to improvement, although softer ground is a different test. The strong pace should play perfectly to Rayevka, who has thrived since dropping to 5f. She won a Group 3 before being edged out by Mission Central at Royal Ascot, and looks a major player despite a tough draw. Mission Central himself is respected back at 5f after not enjoying six in the July Cup. American Affair arrives at the top of his game following his Goodwood Group 2 success and is another to consider.
