TEMPLEGATE tackles a cracking day two of Glorious Goodwood looking to make it one to remember for Sun Racing readers – after banging in a big winning NAP on Tuesday. PERSHAADA (3.35 Goodwood, nap) She can give Richard Hannon another Molecomb success after running a cracker at Royal Ascot last time. She won well here in minor company in May before taking her form to a different level when fourth in the Queen Mary. She finished strongly there and the yard has won this race twice in the past five runnings. Fast ground suits and there’s more to come. BOW ECHO (4.10 Goodwood, nb) Unbeaten colt who keeps going from strength to strength. His devastating 2,000 Guineas success stamped him as the best of his generation before he confirmed it in the St James’s Palace, overcoming early interference and a far-from-ideal passage to keep his winning run going. That performance showed even more than Newmarket, proving he has courage as well as brilliance. He should be still improving and will be perfectly suited by a fast-run mile on quick ground. Hard to fault. HAATEEN (1.50 Goodwood, treble) He can take another big step forward after his demolition job at Doncaster last time out. Andrew Balding’s three-year-old cruised through that valuable novice before storming over four lengths clear on his first crack at this trip. That was the performance of a horse who could well end up more than a handicapper His mark of 88 could seriously underestimate him, Oisin Murphy takes over and he will get the fast ground he enjoys. Tierra Del Toro looks dangerous despite top weight. Ralph Beckett’s gelding has shaped far better than the results suggest in two red-hot handicaps. He went close on comeback at Newbury before pulling early in the King George V at Royal Ascot. If he settles better, this stamina test could unlock the potential his classy pedigree suggests should be there. Infraad also commands plenty of respect. William Haggas’ colt looked green when third on handicap debut at Chester but still finished despite meeting trouble at the business end of the race. He is bred to improve over this longer distance and still holds a Great Voltigeur entry which suggests connections think he’s destined for greater things. Irish raider Cannes is another to watch after an excusable Royal Ascot defeat. He was poorly positioned from a wide draw in the King George V and is much better judged on his Leopardstown maiden success. With more luck in running, he’s unlikely to be far away. Watch for a market move around Baltic Fleet who has left George Boughey for Ian Williams. William Buick has had some success for the yard and takes over today. 2.25 WILD BLOSSOM can bounce back from her Royal Ascot run in these calmer waters. She found the Group 2 Queen Mary a bit too much last time but it didn’t help that she went off too quick and couldn’t sustain the gallop. Her Carlisle debut was hugely impressive as she sauntered 10 lengths clear on soft ground, looking every inch a filly with Group-race potential. Hopefully she will be able to reproduce that effort in these quicker conditions because anything close to that would be good enough to strike. Fellow Wathan hopeful Hidden Gift should be right there too. She shaped with plenty of promise when blazing a trail in the Albany before her early exertions told inside the final furlong. The drop back to 5f looks a major plus and the Fahey filly has the speed to make a bold bid if settling into a better rhythm. Fast Track comes into the picture after a wide-margin Beverley success that suggested she’s progressing rapidly. Andrew Balding’s filly made all that day and the form of her earlier Nottingham second has worked out well so she’s entitled to take another step forward. Divine Whisper looked a useful prospect when opening her account at Windsor and is another with a fair bit more to come, while Miss Lizzy brings Listed form to the table after a solid Sandown third and shouldn’t be underestimated with Charlie Fellowes’ horses in decent nick. Zigazig Ah won the Super Sprint at Newbury last week and can’t be ruled out in current form. I thought Princesse D’Orange would develop into a classy filly this season but it hasn’t happened so far. She was too keen at Royal Ascot and could do better with Ryan Moore taking over who can hopefully get her to settle. 3.00 SAYIDAH DARIYAN can earn a deserved return to the winner’s enclosure on this drop in class. Richard Hughes’ filly has spent much of the last year taking on the best sprinting fillies around, winning the Group 3 Summer Stakes before holding her own in Group 1 company. She shaped particularly well when third behind Flora Of Bermuda on her seasonal return at Newmarket and her latest ninth in the Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee was far better than it looks, finishing only a couple of lengths behind after finding the pace a little hot. The step up to 7f looks a wise move and Ryan Moore is an eyecatching booking. Flora Of Bermuda commands huge respect after bouncing straight back to winning ways in the Summer Stakes at York. She’s shown Group 1 ability over 6f and has been placed in some of the biggest sprint races. This first attempt at 7f is the only slight unknown but her finishing efforts over shorter suggest she has every chance of seeing it out. She’ll be a major player if she does. Planet Seeker could be the fly in the ointment. Ralph Beckett’s three-year-old looked a Group performer in waiting when sauntering home on her handicap debut at Newmarket when zooming home. She has more to come at this level and gets a handy 7lb weight allowance from her older rivals. Zanthos hasn’t fired in two starts this season but her Rockfel Stakes victory last autumn is strong form and she’s too talented to dismiss. That was the last time she tackled this trip. Dash Of Azure was just edged out over this trip at Chester last time and has an each-way shout, while Royal Velvet is proven in this grade and looks overpriced. 3.35 PERSHAADA can give Richard Hannon another Molecomb success after running a cracker at Royal Ascot last time. She won well here in minor company in May before taking her form to a different level when fourth in the Queen Mary. Crownbreaker rates the chief threat after bouncing back in style to land a Listed contest at Deauville. She was a creditable fifth in the Queen Mary before getting off the mark in France and should go well again. Adonius is unbeaten in three starts and has done little wrong so far. His front-running success at Chester has been boosted by the second winning since. He missed Royal Ascot so comes here fresh but that absence is also a slight concern. El Floridita was a huge improver when second in the Norfolk Stakes and can’t be ignored if backing that up. Fast ground suits and he’s another who is on the upgrade. Ayr debut winner Ruler’s Pride is worth another chance after hitting traffic problems in the Coventry Stakes, while Sale Shark may benefit from the return to 5f after two respectable efforts over a longer trip. 4.10 BOW ECHO sounds good in the £1.5m Sussex Stakes. George Boughey’s star was brilliant in the 2,000 Guineas and showed real guts to win at Royal Ascot after shocking traffic problems. That performance showed even more than Newmarket, proving he has courage as well as brilliance. He should be still improving and will be perfectly suited by a fast-run mile on quick ground. Hard to fault. Gstaad is a top-class colt who would head the betting in almost any other Sussex Stakes. Runner-up to Bow Echo in the 2,000 Guineas before landing the Irish Guineas in style, he then came within a whisker of turning the tables at Royal Ascot when getting the run of the race. Ryan Moore will be hoping for another strongly-run race and Dorset should ensure that happens. Consistent, tough and blessed with a powerful turn of foot, he looks by far the biggest danger to the favourite. Opera Ballo can fill the third spot. He is the older horse with the best chance of lowering the colours of the Classic generation. His Sandown Mile win confirmed him a genuine Group 1 performer before he ran a cracker forcing the pace in the Queen Anne when collared in the dying strides. Goodwood’s turning mile promises to suit him better than Ascot’s straight. Hard to give weight to the youngsters but will be right there. 5.00 SUPREME KING is only 3lb higher than his win at Salisbury four runs ago despite finishing a good second on every start since. He went down in a tight finish at Chester last time and handles tricky tracks like this. He is best over this distance and the booking of Oisin Murphy by canny trainer David Evans takes the eye. Under The Twilight looks a major danger after returning to winning form in convincing fashion at Windsor. She has strong course form, having gone close at this meeting last year, and remains well treated despite her latest rise. Sir Garfield is another capable of bouncing back after failing to fire at Hamilton. His earlier wins at Catterick and Epsom advertised his current wellbeing and he remains on a workable mark if reproducing that level. Lipsink returned from a lengthy absence with an encouraging Sandown second and should strip fitter, while French Affair is interesting on debut for Jennie Candlish after several solid efforts earlier in the campaign. Calling A Star also enters calculations after an excellent Newmarket fourth in a race that has already worked out well. Velvet Rhythm never runs a bad race and is another to consider. 5.40 OLIVER SHOW ran a really promising race over course and distance last time and can strike in a wide-open contest. He was slow out of the gates and allowed to get into the race before finishing with a real rattle up the straight. Billy Loughnane is back on board for boss George Boughey and he’ll hopefully get him a little closer to the pace so he doesn’t have quite so much ground to make up. Crimson Spirit is an obvious danger after following his course-and-distance success with another excellent second at Newmarket. Ryan Moore is an eyecatching booking and he’ll be right there again. Bobby Bennu also gets plenty of respect after going down only narrowly at Newcastle. He has slipped to a competitive mark and Roger Varian’s gelding looks ready to strike again if transferring that form back to turf. Goldmoyne is remarkably consistent and was only denied in the closing strides at York last time, while Pellitory returned to form with a fine effort in the same race and remains well treated despite a 1lb rise. Course specialist Rhoscolyn is never easily dismissed around Goodwood and has come nicely down the weights. Colombier is another to consider after another solid display in the Bunbury Cup from an iffy draw.
