Horror moment daredevil, 22, plummets from monument in top Brit getaway city leaving him fighting for life

THIS is the terrifying moment a man falls approximately 30ft from a protected monument leaving him with life-threatening injuries. The shocking incident occurred at the Brabo statue on the Grote Market square in the city of Antwerp, shortly before 3.30am on August 1. The man is believed to have been “under the influence” at the time of the fall according to the cops. It has received official heritage status from Belgian authorities on 27th October 1982 due to its historical, artistic and cultural importance. Police were investigating whether the incident caused any damage to the structure. The man may face criminal processing’s if he is found responsible for any ruin. Antwerp police spokesman Wouter Bruyns warns people not to attempt similar stunts on statues or monuments. He said: “It is obvious that you should not climb on things that are not intended for that purpose.” “There are no safety measures around the Brabo statue. The ground underneath is also hard. We advise everyone not to attempt such stunts.” The incident was not the first time someone had tried to climb the famous landmark, with another stunt involving the statue going wrong almost exactly 10 years earlier. Police said they had received no further updates on the mans current condition. It comes as a tourist was killed in Italy after a heavy statue was hurled from a balcony by a teen boy.
