The teenage suspect and a 20-year-old were both detained on suspicion of attempted murder after the victim, 42, was left in a critical condition. The property was left “riddled” with bullets and the house in disrepair, sources say. A 20-year-old man and a 16-year-old boy have now been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. The boy has also been arrested on suspicion of theft, failing to stop and driving without a licence. They both remain in custody. Crime scene investigators have spent the day scouring a property on the quiet County Durham street. The front window of the home was left shattered and the front door appeared to have been shot at. Residents said the entire street was shut off after the incident as police flooded the area. Most read in The Sun One local, who didn’t want to be named, said: “We didn’t hear anything last night, but we saw about eight police cars all with flashing lights and it was chaos.” The North East Ambulance Service (NEAS) confirmed it dispatched an ambulance crew, duty officer and clinical team leader after being called at 8.10pm. A NEAS spokesperson said: “We were called to an incident at a private address in Gainford, Darlington at 20:10 on Saturday 29 August. “We dispatched one ambulance crew, one duty officer, one clinical team leader and were supported by Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS). “One person was taken to hospital by road.” The Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS) also attended the incident.
