Horror as man, 20, dies after being shot in Costa del Sol street and crawling to supermarket for help as three arrested

A MAN, 20, has died after being shot multiple times in the leg and back in the Spanish resort of Costa del Sol. The victim was sitting on a bench in Barcenillas, an area in Malaga, when the attack happened in broad daylight. A woman said: “At first I thought it was a firecracker but when I heard the second one I realised that they were shots.” Sign up for The Sun newsletter Thank you! Customers in the store attempted to help him but his injuries were critical. “He said that he did not know those people at all and he did not know why they had shot him,” witnesses recalled. The victim was rushed to hospital, but he died several hours later. Alleged attackers allegedly ran away at speed and are thought to have chucked away a weapon as they fled. The shooting took place at 11.40am in a central square in Barcenillas. Three suspects have since been arrested in connection with the shooting. The Drugs and Organised Crime Unit (Udyco) and the Special Response Group for Organised Crime (Greco) took over the case and tracked down a second suspect. After a tipoff they raided a house in Malaga and arrested a second suspect for his alleged involvement in the shooting. Investigators then identified a third alleged suspect. Police said he had deliberately changed his clothes and appearance after the attack. He was arrested on a street in Fuengirola. They believe it was a deliberately planned assassination linked to drugs. It comes after a spate of shootings in the holiday hotspot. A 16-year-old was stabbed just last week mere metres away.
