Horrifying moment veteran paraglider plunges 100ft to his death as his parachute collapses mid-air during festival

THIS is the tragic moment an experienced paraglider fell to his death after his parachute failed just 100 feet in the air. Eyewitnesses said Kurt attempted to deploy his reserve parachute but it failed to open because he was already too low. He was given first aid at the scene and rushed to Oguzlar State Hospital but doctors were unable to save him. Kurt had travelled from Antalya to take part in the annual event which brings together paragliding enthusiasts in the mountainous region. His death caused shock among fellow pilots and spectators, with some locals questioning whether the weather conditions were suitable for flying. One spectator said the wind conditions appeared dangerous from the offset. They said there was “no reason to insist on launching in that wind”. Bayram’s body was later returned to Antalya after a post-mortem examination. He was buried following a funeral service on July 19. Police have launched an investigation into the crash, which remains ongoing. It comes as skydiver died after leaping from a plane and slamming into its wing in May. A recent probe revealed the parachutist Martin Brachet, 21, was killed due to a fatal miscommunication. An investigation revealed the pilot gave the all-clear for the jump without knowing two parachutists were actually involved. French Parachuting Federation president Yves-Marie Guillau said: “The pilot levelled the plane, in jump configuration, and turned on the green light to give the signal to jumpmaster. “After the first jump, he turned off the green light that authorises jumps, throttled up and pulled back on the stick to gain altitude.” The victim was not told he was no longer cleared to jump causing him to fatally collide with the wing.
