The coach then leaves the road, ploughs into a structure at the petrol station and tips onto its side. Residents rushed to the scene and helped pull passengers from inside the overturned vehicle before emergency crews arrived. Those injured were taken to private hospitals in nearby Koothattukulam, while police and fire and rescue teams joined the response. Police reportedly said none of the injuries appeared to be serious. Most read in The Sun The driver is understood to have swerved after the scooter allegedly turned across the coach’s path without signalling. It comes after five people were killed when a bus ploughed into a crowd gathered to watch an orchestra performance. The horror unfolded at around 10.45pm on August 21 in Lauriya, in northern India’s Bihar state. The bus was reportedly travelling at high speed when its driver lost control while attempting to avoid a head-on collision with a truck. Instead, the vehicle careered into the crowd lining the roadside to watch the concert. Police said the driver then fled the scene after mowing down the spectators. The huge gathering had spilled onto the road in Bihar’s West Champaran district to watch the performance, which had been organised as part of a ceremony celebrating the birth of a baby in the village. Two people were killed at the scene, while three others later died in hospital. Police identified the victims as Sanjay Mahto, Bhola Dubey, Bahadur Mahto, Devendra Dubey and Changur Ram.
