LEGENDARY Brit actor Tim Curry’s cause of death has been revealed after he passed away at his LA home. Now documents obtained by People have now for the first time revealed that Curry died of coronary artery disease. Kidney cancer and a history of strokes were also listed as a potential contributors to his passing, according to the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health. In September 2025, the actor updated fans on his health saying: “I still can’t walk, which is why I’m in this silly chair, and that’s very limiting. “So I won’t be singing and I won’t be dancing very soon. I still have real problems with my left leg.” Curry reportedly had no operations for either his coronary artery disease, kidney cancer or history of stroke, according to the docs. Curry also played Pennywise in Stephen King horror It, starred in Ridley Scott’s fantasy film Legend, and made audiences laugh across Home Alone 2, Scary Movie and the Three Musketeers. He went on to earn three Tony Award nominations and two Laurence Olivier Award nominations for his work in theatre. More recently, Curry had kept a low profile, rarely seen in public and not active in major acting projects. In 2015, almost three years after his stroke, he made a rare public appearance at the Actors Fund Tony Awards Viewing Party in Los Angeles and received a lifetime achievement award. He spoke openly about his recovery, highlighting how maintaining his sense of humour was vital to coping with his health challenges. In 2023, Curry chatted to fans on virtual video chats through conventions like GalaxyCon.
