HOLLYWOOD superstar Hugh Jackman is in talks to buy a stake in Norwich City. And he will be hoping to emulate the success fellow actors and pals Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney have enjoyed at Wrexham. Now he is plotting the latest Hollywood revolution in the EFL – at Carrow Road. But with the actor publicly revealing talks are underway, it seems to be on track. Jackman turned down the chance to join a celebrity consortium to invest in Norwich back in 2010 – but has changed his tune 16 years on given the success of other high-profile owners. The Wrexham story has been the ultimate gold standard with the Welsh club rising from non-league to the Championship in just a few seasons – with Jackman’s close friend and co-star Reynolds integral. Tom Brady has bought into Birmingham City, JJ Watt has done the same at Burnley while Manchester United’s Class of 92 took over Salford. Snoop Dogg and Luka Modric are, incredibly, both co-owners at Swansea, Will Ferrell has a stake in Leeds and 1.4 per cent of Ipswich Town is held by Ed Sheeran. American businessman and MLB’s Milwaukee Brewers owner Mark Attanasio currently holds an 85 per cent share of Norwich. But now Jackman could join the Carrow Road party. Explaining his love of the Canaries, he added: “When I was in Australia, growing up, I had English parents who emigrated to Australia. “We used to watch the FA Cup. It was the only thing we were allowed to stay up for, 3 o’clock in the morning. We had to go to bed first, and we were woken up to watch it. “So I was seeing all these teams, Arsenal and all these teams, and I was like, ‘I’ve got to pick a team’. “I said, ‘Dad, where are you from?’ He said, ‘London’. I said, ‘So I’ll go for London?’ “He goes, ‘No, there’s a bunch of teams in London’. I said, ‘Mum, where are you from?’ She went, ‘Norwich’. “I went, ‘Is there a football team in Norwich?’ She went, ‘Yep’. I said, ‘That’s my team’. “So it’s been slim pickings since then. We did win the Milk Cup in 1984.It’s not even called the Milk Cup anymore, but we’re on the rise. “We’re on the up and up. I went to Carrow Road a couple of times, and I love the Canaries, and this is the year we’re going to get promoted. That’s my prediction. “My prediction is Norwich and Wrexham are getting promoted this year.” Philippe Clement’s side currently sit 20th in the new Championship season with one win from four matches – and are two points behind Wrexham.
