Holly Black Announces Multiple New Faerie Universe Releases Starting In November 2026

Holly Black's Faerie Universe is expanding in massive ways. The fantasy author has announced multiple new releases in the Faerie Universe starting in November 2026, as the fictional world continues to expand. Black's Faerie Universe occupies most of her written work, some of her most notable being The Spiderwick Chronicles and The Folk of the Air. Her publications span audiences from middle grade, to young adult, to adult, with plenty of variety across the many tales weaved throughout her work. Now, those tales are about to expand in new, unique ways, with a plethora of releases announced all at once. In a report from People, it's been confirmed Black has made a high seven-figure deal for four upcoming books in the Faerie Universe. This includes a young adult novel published by Alvina Ling Books in the US and Hot Key Books in the UK in 2027. The other three are adult-oriented books published by Grand Central Publishing in the U.S. and Del Rey in the UK, currently with no release dates. In addition, a graphic novel trilogy adapting the first book of The Folk of the Air, The Cruel Prince, will release annually beginning in Spring 2028. But these book releases are just the beginning. Her next big release is going to be the young adult novel A Conspiracy of Charming Monsters: Illustrated Tales from Elfhame, which arrives on bookshelves on November 3, 2026. The illustrations come from Frostbite Studios, who also worked on the now-released card game Enemies to Lovers: The Crown of Elfhame, which was funded via Kickstarter in under 30 minutes back in 2025. Now that the game is out, it adds a layer of expansion to the Faerie Universe, just in time for some even bigger releases on the horizon. The most prominent of these is a new deal struck between Black and Amazon MGM Studios, which will see The Folk of the Air turned into a studio production. Although details on the upcoming adaptation remain sparse, Black will be teaming up with Scott Free Productions, co-founded by filmmaker Ridley Scott, to produce the adaptation of her book series. Although there's no news yet about whether it will be a movie or TV series, the trilogy is getting a major treatment onscreen, the cherry on top for the many forthcoming productions underway. Speaking about the upcoming slate of new books, products, and the upcoming adaptation, Black explained how the fans who keep her work in the spotlight are the ones who've been able to allow her the ability to create so many works in her world.
