Thousands of Britons will descend on the famous track for the Big Food and Wine Weekend – with sunny, clear skies expected on Sunday. Parts of the south-east are forecast to record temperatures of 27C, possibly even 28C, tomorrow – meaning punters could luck out with one final burst of heat before the sun sets on summer and the doom and gloom of autumn sets in. Racegoers were all smiles on Saturday as they were pictured in vibrant and colourful dresses, cocktails in hand, as they enjoyed food stalls, barbecue displays and live cooking demonstrations with Michelin-starred chefs in Berkshire this afternoon. With mercury dials expected to reach nearly 30C in the south-east this weekend, other parts of the country will see slightly lower temperatures. Highs of 25C are expected around the Midlands, meanwhile Wales is set to reach 24C and the south-west will see 23C.Northern England is forecast for temperatures of 22C and Northern Ireland will reach 20C, however Scotland is expected to see temperatures as low as 15C in the Orkney and Shetland Islands.Meanwhile mainland temperatures are expected to range between 17, 18 and 19C across Scotland. Racegoers arriving at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire for the second day of the Big Ascot Food and Wine Weekend Temperatures are expected to reach 27C or 28C on Sunday as racegoers head to Ascot to enjoy one last burst of heat before the autumn weather kicks in Despite colder forecasts for outside the south-east, temperatures will still be several degrees above average for this time of year. However the highs of 27C this weekend are expected to fade quickly as fresh Atlantic air and rain are set to arrive next week. But, while autumn soon gets underway across the UK, France and Spain have endured temperatures exceeding 40C this week. The two countries are among the warmest in Europe as hot air has gripped the central and southern parts of the continent, spreading northward – meaning the UK can enjoy one last wave of heat ahead of the colder months.
