HK actor Mat Yeung’s restaurant in Selangor temporarily closed by city council 10 days after opening

KUALA LUMPUR – Hong Kong actor Mat Yeung’s roast meat restaurant in Selangor has been temporarily shut down by the Petaling Jaya City Council, just 10 days after opening its doors officially.A closure notice was posted outside the SS2 premises on Aug 24, stating that the restaurant was required to cease operations from 1pm that day.The notice cited alleged breaches involving the restaurant’s licence and use of the premises.In a statement on social media, the restaurant confirmed the temporary closure and apologised to customers for any inconvenience caused.It said the action followed the authorities’ discovery that its kitchen was occupying part of a public space.“Following the authorities’ instructions, we will close for two days to make the necessary adjustments before resuming normal operations on Aug 26,” the statement said.Yeung also acknowledged the temporary closure in an interview with Sing Tao Headline, saying that the local authorities discovered the restaurant had placed some items in the back alley.“Perhaps we had too many things after the opening, so some of them were placed at the back. The authorities said that was not allowed and asked us to move everything back to the warehouse. We should be able to resume business the day after tomorrow,” the 45-year-old said.Yeung opened his Hong Kong-style roast meat restaurant on Aug 14.The TVB star previously told local media that opening a traditional roast meat restaurant had long been one of his dreams.Since its launch, Yeung has been hands-on at the eatery, helping to serve customers and oversee its day-to-day operations whenever his schedule allows.He made headlines on Aug 2 after marrying his long-time girlfriend, Malaysian model Lisa Ch’ng, in a lavish ceremony at a five-star hotel in Kuala Lumpur.
