Historic 15th century country home beloved by celebrities goes on sale for £18million

Stapleford Park, in Leicestershire, was last used as a wedding venue and was host to Peter Crouch and Abbey Clancy's nuptials in 2011. But the 48-bed mansion set within grounds of 54 acres suddenly closed its doors in October 2024 due to 'adverse trading conditions', with wedding bookings being cancelled at short notice. Michael Jackson was invited to the 25th birthday celebration of Prince Abdul Azim of Brunei, which was held at the Leicestershire venue in May 2007, and royal visitors included former monarchs George VI and Edward VIII. As a luxury hotel, it hosted a raft of A-list celebrities over the years such as Lionel Richie, David Beckham, Will Smith, Elizabeth Hurley, Mariah Carey and Naomi Campbell.Guns N' Roses also stayed there during Download Festival in 2018 and the grounds were also used in an episode of The Avengers thanks to the miniature railway that runs through the parkland.The country house is being sold by agent Strutt & Parker and boasts a seven-room spa and wellness centre, four tennis courts and an indoor pool.Mark Rimell, director of Strutt & Parker's national country house department, said: 'Stapleford Park is one of the most important houses in Leicestershire, in the heart of England, with a rich and varied history woven into this commanding building.Grade I-listed Stapleford Park, in Leicestershire, has been put up for sale for £18 million.
