The video has gone viral.A local man helped a groom cross a raging stream in Himachal Pradesh.A wedding procession in Himachal Pradesh was forced to take a risky detour when a flash flood left a stream raging across the route. Meanwhile, a local man stepped in and carried the groom on his back to safety. A video of the crossing has now gone viral. The incident took place in Chamba district following a flash flood. The usually manageable stream suddenly swelled into a powerful current, leaving members of a wedding procession and local residents stranded on either side. With the water flowing swiftly and no safe passage available, crossing the stream became a serious challenge. That was when a local youth stepped in.In the video, the man can be seen carrying the groom on his back as he carefully makes his way through the rushing water. The groom, dressed in traditional wedding attire, holds on as the man wades across the flooded stream, taking measured steps against the strong current. Watch the video here:While the moment went viral for the young man’s courage, the incident has also brought an old problem in the area back into focus. Residents of the area have repeatedly sought a bridge over the stream, which becomes particularly difficult to cross during heavy rain and sudden flooding. The absence of a permanent bridge has left residents with few options when the water from the stream rises. What may ordinarily be a simple crossing can quickly become dangerous, just like it did for the wedding procession.(With inputs from Vishal Anand)- EndsPublished By: Srimoyee ChowdhuryPublished On: Aug 17, 2026 14:06 IST
