A POPULAR high street stationery chain is set to close its only shop in a major UK city, leaving shoppers gutted. The TG Jones branch in Market Street, Cambridge, will close its doors for good on September 14. A closing down sale has been launched, with some items up to 30% off. The high street arm of WH Smith was sold last year and rebranded as TG Jones in a £76million bid to save the business. But trading at the stores has been more difficult since the beginning of the year. Read more on high streets Modella Capital, which owns TG Jones, was granted approval for a company-wide restructure on July 1. Up to 150 stores are at risk of closure, while rent cuts of between 15 and 75% have been applied to hundreds more. The Cambridge branch is not the only store closing its doors for good.
