Alongside a selfie of him next to a partially-constructed house, he wrote via Reddit: “Soooo happy to see this house almost done after getting royally f----- by HGTV. Like a phoenix from the ashes it rises.”In June 2025, HGTV canceled “Bargain Block” after four seasons. The show, which was set in Detroit, followed Bynum and his partner Evan Thomas as they bought multiple rundown and abandoned houses on a single block, gutted them, then rebuilt them to create affordable, stylish, and fully furnished starter homes that were ideal for first-time homebuyers.“Married to Real Estate,” “Farmhouse Fixer,” and “Izzy Does It” were also canceled by HGTV that month. Bynum addressed the cancelation of “Bargain Block” in an Instagram post at the time, writing: “Our entire business and lives have been put through the ringer at the hands of a giant corporation, yet we persist lol. Though you may not be seeing us for much longer on HGTV, we’re excited that we’ve built such an amazing base of followers and we’re very excited about the future.”He then noted how he and Thomas were warned that “TV is a fickle world” and those people “were right.” He continued: “Tv is full of a lot of great people but it’s also full of some of the worst people I’ve ever encountered.
