Here’s What The Zelda: Ocarina Of Time Remake Looks Like

We just got our first look at The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake! Here it is! And it’s out on November 5, 2026. © Nintendo The look of this remake is already causing some significant stir online due to its high detail and lean into a more…not realistic style, but certainly closer to realism than Breath of the Wild was. The child characters are by far getting the most scrutiny from fans, alongside the overall shininess of it all. We got to see several minutes of gameplay showing off Kokiri Forest, the Great Deku Tree, Hyrule Field, and Castle Town. From this we learned that there are some overall quality of life improvements being added in the remake. There’s a designated jump button, instead of Link having to automatically jump when he runs at a ledge. The camera is also free-moving now, like in modern video games, so you can look around everywhere. Link can freely dive underwater and swim properly, so there’s no need to do the weird taking off and putting on of iron boots to “swim” anymore. And Link can roll into a sprint now too to move faster. There’s also a brand new feature in this remake that lets you hum, sing, or even play notes into the microphone of the Switch 2. If Link knows the song you sing or play, he’ll play it on his ocarina. So you don’t necessarily have to remember button combos if you know the tunes and can hum them yourself. This remake of Ocarina of Time was first revealed back in June with a long, mural-based lead-up to a single shot of Link asleep in his forest home. Today is the first time we’ve gotten any real information or look at what sort of remake this is. Eiji Aonuma in the presentation referred to this game as a “faithful interpretation using modern technologies” and reminded everyone that it has a “different appeal from other [Zelda games] like Breath of the Wild.” From that and what we saw today, we can infer that there won’t be too many major changes to Ocarina of Time‘s remake apart from mechanical and quality-of-life stuff like the features detailed above.
