To celebrate the launch, Google is offering significant trade-in incentives for those looking to upgrade. Until 1 September, you can buy the new Pixel 11 Pro or Pro XL and trade in an eligible device for up to £850, including a £400 bonus on top of the standard trade-in value. Google The design remains unmistakably Pixel. Google’s trademark Camera Bar stretches across the back of the phone, which means the phone doesn’t wobble when you’re typing on it on the table, unlike other smartphones. The latest phone has also been updated to make it thinner.A new feature called HiLight is a colour LED ring around the rear camera flash on the Pro models. This flashes and corresponds with five different preset colours to identify who’s ringing you, even when the phone is lying face down on the table. It also glows when you activate Gemini, the phone’s AI system. The new folding model is also thinner (though the two halves are noticeably different thicknesses), but it’s nowhere near as thin as the recently released Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra. Google has tended to favour slightly thicker foldables to include bigger batteries. There is also increased scratch-resistance on the Pro model displays and a tougher back on the foldable. Software is always a big part of new hardware releases, and Google has introduced a more powerful processor to deliver more advanced AI features. These include one for the Google keyboard. Something called Gboard Rambler will help the hesitant among us. It’s a speech-to-text feature which automatically filters out ums and ahs. There are more advanced contextual suggestions – for example, live flight statuses when someone texts you about your travel plans or can offer to book a restaurant when you’re messaging someone about dinner. One eye-catching and thoughtful update is the introduction of Sign-To-Text, a feature that uses the front-facing camera to translate sign language to text. It does it in real time, and sign language appears on screen as text and can then be spoken aloud. It works with American Sign Language. Photography remains another major selling point. Pro Zoom reaches up to 120x, while 8K video recording at 24/30fps is powered by Video Boost. Magic Capture can record video and high-resolution stills simultaneously,GoogleThe Pixel 11 Pro comes in four colourways – Canyon, Olive, Fog and matte Obsidian – with the preorder deal offering more than a straightforward discount. The £400 bonus reduces the effective cost of Google’s new top-tier phone. Simply add your new Pixel to your basket, then select your trade-in device – Google will let you know its estimated value before posting you everything you need, including a prepaid label to send your old device. Move everything across to your new Pixel before you factory reset your old device, remove any locks or passwords and send it back. Google will then inspect your old device and email your confirmed trade-in value. There is also a Pixel Watch 5 incentive, with eligible watch trade-ins worth up to £260, including a £50 bonus. Those preordering the Pixel 11 Pro can also save up to £80 on the Pixel Watch 5.
